22 Days to Go: Sceptre (Part One)

I started on my sceptre for my Loki cosplay outfit this evening, and so far it is going alright. I managed to find a suitable tube for the main structure of the staff and tomorrow it is getting painted gold. While rummaging through the cupboards, I found two light bulbs for the glowing blue part of his sceptre which are now painted blue. When the final product is assembled, I will decide which one best suits it. Tomorrow I am going to search through the fabric stalls on the local market to buy material for the costume and also purchase hair dye because sadly, I do not have Loki coloured hair. Part two should be up soon.

How to make a Loki costume in 25 days.

The sudden realisation that we are going to Comic Con in 25 days has hit both my friend and myself. I also then realised that my desired costume will be challenging and time consuming and that it is necessary to start now. In an earlier post I briefly mentioned that I would be going as Loki, and I am sticking with that plan because one does not simply go to Comic Con in normal clothing! Sorry, I have been watching LOTR.
Anyway, the challenge of creating a fairly accurate Loki costume starts today, leaving me with 25 days to complete it. Can I manage it? Well, we'll see soon enough.

(I have also been watching Thor, if you got that reference too.)

(I probably won't manage it.)

Statistics

After only a six month course, I will be taking my Statistics GCSE tomorrow afternoon. Honestly? I haven't revised enough. It's either that, or my brain is refusing to take anything in and remember key facts. I have had to ban myself from watching any films this weekend, and that has been quite a challenge considering the fact that Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy came in the post on Friday. I can't wait until this is over, because next weekend a few friends and myself are going to have a 'Marvel Movie Marathon' on Saturday. That is what will be getting me through the week. We found Iron Man energy drinks and Avengers candy sticks so it should be great.
Roll on Saturday...

"If it's all the same to you, I think I'll have that drink now."

Holidays never last long enough, do they? This week was my break from life and it has gone quickly- too quickly. After watching The Avengers once again and Snow White and the Huntsman, going to Edinburgh for three days, spending the day curled up watching DVDs and drawing, I can fairly say that statistics revision has gone out of the window. Of course, I have done some. Some. Not nearly enough. You see, I get easily side-tracked. For example: 20 minutes ago, I was cleaning my room and unpacking and yet somehow I ended up on the laptop.
I recently discovered that Fanfiction.net has created a feature that allows you to submit artwork as well as fanfiction as illustrations to your stories. I love art and writing so naturally this was good news for me. Tonight will be spent watching Thor again, writing new fanfiction and completing drawings to accompany it.
The title of this post is very random and fairly unrelated, but I suppose it could (in some minuscule, very unlikely way) represent wanting a break. Oh, look at that- I have been brainwashed by my English teacher into analysing everything. Wonderful. The more likely explanation behind the title is that it is a Loki quote. Yes, I think that sums it up a little better.

Thorth time lucky?

Today was the day that I went to the cinema to see The Avengers (for the fourth time) with my friends Emily and Saffron. It is still amazing in my opinion. We also got to mutter 'muggles' towards the many people who left at the start of the credits. Seriously though; have you never seen a Marvel film before?
Overall, it was a brilliant day and a great start to the holidays!

Comic Con

As pointed out by my dear friend Emily ( http://musicisthefoodoflovee.blogspot.co.uk/ ) I rarely update this blog. So here goes..
On July 21st Comic Con is being held in Manchester. Being the over-obsessed nerds that we are, some of my friends and myself are going, dressed up of course! Right now, the costume is the most difficult challenge I am faced with this holidays, and I even have statistics revision to do. Due to the fact that he is one of my favourite villains, I shall be going as Loki. I am trying to base the look around the scene in The Avengers when he has just been 'spat' out of the Tesseract in the S.H.I.E.L.D base. To give you an idea of what I hope the costume will look like, here is a pic:

Should be a challenge!
