Comic Con!

Today was one of the best days of my life. No, I'm being serious. I'm not that confident around people, especially those in my classes, but today was different. I don't know how or why exactly, but I felt as though I could hold conversations with many people and not turn into a blithering fool. I met so many lovely people today who shared my obsessions for all things Marvel, Doctor Who, DC and Sherlock and most of them were in costume too. Oh yeah, the costume did get finished on time- there was just a few malfunctions with the armour half way through the day.

The Black Widow cosplayer was really sweet and told me about The Avengers meet-up outside. Also, her costume was amazing. (I was looking at Tony Stark's camera at this moment in time.)

And here's Stark. We pretty much recited the whole Stark Tower scene.

One of the many brilliant Steve Rogers/Captain America costumes.

Loki x3, Thor, Captain America and a Hulk.

13 Days To Go: Sceptre (Part Two) and Coat (Part One)

Time seems to be flying by an in my absence, I have managed to complete my sceptre and make a start on my top jacket, armour and top (As well as going to see The Avengers for the fifth time).

After days of making a mess of the conservatory and yelling at inanimate objects when they don't do what I want them to do, my sceptre is finally complete. I may have ripped off half of the skin cells on my fingers in the process because super glue is one awful thing to work with.

The jacket is basically the outer leather coat Loki wears during The Avengers. It is almost complete; I just need to neaten up the seams and edges and sew on the embellishments. I am surprised that the basic shape was started and complete in one day (today) because I'm not usually someone who has a lot of determination.

On another non-costume related note, yesterday I watched The Hollow Crown: Henry IV Part One. Brilliant TV. Jeremy Irons and Tom Hiddleston are amazing actors who have the ability to create such in-depth characters and really suit Shakespeare. It was the highlight of my evening, or maybe even my week, and it was worth waiting an extra hour for it due to the tennis! Part Two is on next week, and Hiddleston's The Hollow Crown: Henry V is aired when I get home from Comic Con on the 21st- it should be a good day!

22 Days to Go: Sceptre (Part One)

I started on my sceptre for my Loki cosplay outfit this evening, and so far it is going alright. I managed to find a suitable tube for the main structure of the staff and tomorrow it is getting painted gold. While rummaging through the cupboards, I found two light bulbs for the glowing blue part of his sceptre which are now painted blue. When the final product is assembled, I will decide which one best suits it. Tomorrow I am going to search through the fabric stalls on the local market to buy material for the costume and also purchase hair dye because sadly, I do not have Loki coloured hair. Part two should be up soon.

How to make a Loki costume in 25 days.

The sudden realisation that we are going to Comic Con in 25 days has hit both my friend and myself. I also then realised that my desired costume will be challenging and time consuming and that it is necessary to start now. In an earlier post I briefly mentioned that I would be going as Loki, and I am sticking with that plan because one does not simply go to Comic Con in normal clothing! Sorry, I have been watching LOTR.
Anyway, the challenge of creating a fairly accurate Loki costume starts today, leaving me with 25 days to complete it. Can I manage it? Well, we'll see soon enough.

(I have also been watching Thor, if you got that reference too.)

(I probably won't manage it.)

Statistics

After only a six month course, I will be taking my Statistics GCSE tomorrow afternoon. Honestly? I haven't revised enough. It's either that, or my brain is refusing to take anything in and remember key facts. I have had to ban myself from watching any films this weekend, and that has been quite a challenge considering the fact that Tinker Tailor Soldier Spy came in the post on Friday. I can't wait until this is over, because next weekend a few friends and myself are going to have a 'Marvel Movie Marathon' on Saturday. That is what will be getting me through the week. We found Iron Man energy drinks and Avengers candy sticks so it should be great.
Roll on Saturday...

"If it's all the same to you, I think I'll have that drink now."

Holidays never last long enough, do they? This week was my break from life and it has gone quickly- too quickly. After watching The Avengers once again and Snow White and the Huntsman, going to Edinburgh for three days, spending the day curled up watching DVDs and drawing, I can fairly say that statistics revision has gone out of the window. Of course, I have done some. Some. Not nearly enough. You see, I get easily side-tracked. For example: 20 minutes ago, I was cleaning my room and unpacking and yet somehow I ended up on the laptop.
I recently discovered that Fanfiction.net has created a feature that allows you to submit artwork as well as fanfiction as illustrations to your stories. I love art and writing so naturally this was good news for me. Tonight will be spent watching Thor again, writing new fanfiction and completing drawings to accompany it.
The title of this post is very random and fairly unrelated, but I suppose it could (in some minuscule, very unlikely way) represent wanting a break. Oh, look at that- I have been brainwashed by my English teacher into analysing everything. Wonderful. The more likely explanation behind the title is that it is a Loki quote. Yes, I think that sums it up a little better.

Thorth time lucky?

Today was the day that I went to the cinema to see The Avengers (for the fourth time) with my friends Emily and Saffron. It is still amazing in my opinion. We also got to mutter 'muggles' towards the many people who left at the start of the credits. Seriously though; have you never seen a Marvel film before?
Overall, it was a brilliant day and a great start to the holidays!

Comic Con

As pointed out by my dear friend Emily ( http://musicisthefoodoflovee.blogspot.co.uk/ ) I rarely update this blog. So here goes..
On July 21st Comic Con is being held in Manchester. Being the over-obsessed nerds that we are, some of my friends and myself are going, dressed up of course! Right now, the costume is the most difficult challenge I am faced with this holidays, and I even have statistics revision to do. Due to the fact that he is one of my favourite villains, I shall be going as Loki. I am trying to base the look around the scene in The Avengers when he has just been 'spat' out of the Tesseract in the S.H.I.E.L.D base. To give you an idea of what I hope the costume will look like, here is a pic:

Should be a challenge!

Thor helmets and comic strips.

Last Saturday was the date of my birthday party, which I was lucky enough to celebrate with some of the most wonderful and brilliant people on this earth. After running around the Disney store with Iron Man masks and Thor helmets (ok, that was only two of us...) and tracking down the very rare Hunger Games merchandise, we had a meal at TGI Fridays. That was a meal like never before. Seriously- I must be friends with the funniest people. If any of you are reading this; thanks for an awesome night!

Monday has become the night in which I spend all evening sat on my bedroom floor (No, really- it is actually very comfortable.) with the laptop and a drawing pad. Tonight, the idea of creating my own comic strip popped into my head. On the bus each morning I create scenarios in my head in time with the music, and since the release of The Avengers I have been processing ideas for my own Marvel- themed comic. Today I finally created a solid idea for my character, and that character goes by the name of Cyanide. In case you had not noticed, I am pretty obsessed with chemistry and all things CSI-related. I am currently drawing and typing this entry (I'm good at multitasking) and trying to piece together a more complex storyline. Photos and updates will be published soon.

Jotunheim

I have found my dream holiday destination. Yes, it is mainly because of the name. For those of you who don't know me personally or are unaware of my obsessive love for Thor and all things mythological, Jotunheim is a place featured in the stories and films of Thor and, as I discovered recently, is an actual region in Norway.

It looks like such a beautiful place with the mountains and the greenery...

Now time to persuade the rest of the family to consider going on holiday here in a few years.

"Is this not your natural state? It's the unspoken truth of humanity that you crave subjugation. The bright lure of freedom diminishes your life's joy in a mad scramble for power. For identity. You were made to be ruled. In the end, you will always kneel."

"Your ledger is dripping, its gushing red, and you think saving a man no less virtuous than yourself will change anything? This is the basest sentimentality. This is a child at prayer- pathetic. You lie and kill in the service of liars and killers. You pretend to be separate, to have your own code, something that makes up for the horrors; but they are a part of you, and they will never go away."

As the title suggests, my obsession with Loki has increased. Dramatically.

He has some of the best lines in the entire film (Yeah, I got round to seeing the Avengers- BRILLIANT FILM.)

So, I won't bore you with any details, and I also wont ruin the film for those who have not seen it.

On Saturday night, I decided to paint my nails in a Avenger themed design. I really suck at nail art, so they aren't that great...

Thor, revision, and not much else.

I successfully purchased Thor yesterday, and so far it has been played three times. Well, four, if you count the fact that I'm currently watching it again now. It is a brilliant film. We also got Captain America, which is equally as awesome. Halfway through Captain America I suddenly announced "oh my god that's Caesar from The Hunger Games!".
Anyway, back to Thor. The film is amazing, and Tom Hiddleston as Loki made it even better to be honest. Loki has so many wonderful one liners and his character is complex and interesting. To put it bluntly; I love it.
Not a lot of revision has taken place over the weekend, which will be evident in the two exams next month. Oh well, weekends were meant to be enjoyed!

The Avengers

From a young age I have watched films such as the Starwars Sagas, Indiana Jones, and Batman, and just now have they made a comeback into my life. It turns out I have been writing fanfiction since the age of around six, because I recently found a notepad full of stories about the Jedi and other Starwars characters that I made up after watching the films. I guess I always have preferred action type films to romantic comedies, and I really enjoy watching them, plus the soundtracks are usually awesome.
Unfortunately I haven't seen the new Avengers film just yet, but I am going to next weekend. This weekend will be spent watching all the separate films that lead up to the Avengers Assemble movie. I'm going into town this afternoon in search of Thor. Due to my sudden interest in Marvel, the number of drawings I do over the weekend is increasing. I am currently working on a Loki and Iron Man piece from the trailer, which is basically their first confrontation. Hopefully it should be done soon.
I don't know if any of you have heard of Forbidden Planet, but it is a group of shops dotted around the UK that sell merchandise for basically every film cult out there, including; The Hunger Games, Doctor Who, Marvel and DC comics, Starwars, etc. The nearest one to me is in Leeds, which isn't that easy to get to. I think I'm going to London for a day in the holidays and luckily there is a huge one there.

The Nightjar

The Nightjar is a free app created by the chewing gum company, Five Gum. It features the voice of Benedict Cumberbatch, which is the main reason I downloaded it. The description given to you by iTunes is that it is 'a video game with no video'. You are basically stranded on an abandoned space ship and you have to find a way onto the support vessel, but you can't see where you are; you have to listen for sounds like doors, radars, and the growls of aliens that have already eaten me around four times, and walk to, or away from, them using the walk buttons. Benedict is helping you get out, and also provides sarcastic lines whenever you fall over or die. I may not be selling it brilliantly on here, so check it out for yourself- you won't regret it.

The Future

[Note: I know I haven't updated in a while, and suddenly I'm posting more than one entry tonight. This is because, for once, I have some things to write about which don't all fall into the same categories. So this is post two of three for tonight... sorry.]

I don't know if any of you are aware of the book 1984 by George Orwell. If you're not, I'll explain. The book is a political novel written with the purpose of warning its readers about the dangers of a certain government. Set in 1984, Orwell's goal was to indicate to the readers (the current year at that time was 1949) that the story represented a real possibility for the near future. The whole book is based around a Big Brother type event in which a group of people are dumped in an area with high security systems watching their every movement. After watching The Hunger Games I have now realised how similar the story lines are.
My Dad brought up the discussion one evening about our views on the future. That is what set off my theory and ideas. 1984 has come true. It may seem like an exaggeration, but look at it this way; we now have CCTV, Big Brother was created (which is basically 1984 in modern day context), and the Government are now planning to hack into internet history to monitor what we do to 'stop terrorism', as they like to call it. After explaining all of the above I continued by announcing that I think that a Hunger Games- like activity will replace the Olympics in the future for population control or punishment. It may seem far-fetched, but so did 1984 at the time, and look what's happened now.

Apologies for this deep, political ramble. The next post is more upbeat.

The Hunger Games.

Wow. The Hunger Games is the best film I have watched this year, and within the space of a week I managed to watch it twice at the cinemas, despite having to go on a mad hunt to find an available showing. We read the opening to the first book, The Hunger Games, in English Literature, but due to a lack of interest by other pupils we never got past chapter one, which was really disappointing. Time for a little confession: I used to adore Twilight, but thankfully that has changed. I'm sure my friends will back me up on that point. After buying the books and watching the films for both The Twilight Saga and The Hunger Games, I can safely say that Suzanne Collins is definitely the better writer. Katniss Everdeen is a much more inspirational and stronger character than Bella Swan was, and despite the fact that both books are unrealistic, The Hunger Games is more believable and even seems real sometimes. Katniss's determination to win wasn't influenced by her boyfriend; it was her sister. Whereas in New Moon, when Edward leaves Bella she falls into a world of depression and utter uselessness and her character just becomes repetitive and boring.

Undershaw

The home of Sir Arthur Conan Doyle, Undershaw, is under threat of being turned into modern day accommodation, destroying the wonderful history and intriguing past of this building. It is here that Conan Doyle wrote The Hounds Of The Baskervilles, making it an important piece of the Sherlock Holmes legacy. It would be terrible if this magnificent building falls victim of some company's ridiculous marketing ploy to destroy pieces of history in order boost their profits.
The state of this house at this moment in time is appalling, due to the lack of care provided by the building's current owners, who sadly have planning permission to use Undershaw and its surrounding land as space for their new houses. The interior of the rooms are in bad condition and have not been properly preserved. It is really quite sad how they are allowing this destruction to eat away a part of history. The building continues to deteriorate.
A charity named The Undershaw Preservation Trust is out to reclaim this building and restore it to its previous state. Mark Gatiss, who plays Mycroft Holmes in the BBC's Sherlock, is the patron of this worthwhile charity and is supporting them throughout their battle to save Undershaw. The trust has protested against the plans to develop Undershaw into other buildings, and the development has been put on hold. It is now facing a Judicial Review on the 23rd May 2012.
This charity really needs support. If you are keen on supporting this important cause, more information can be found on their website:

http://www.saveundershaw.com/index.html

They also have a Facebook "like" page, if anyone has a Facebook account (I know not everyone does, and I admit that sometimes I wish I didn't.) The link can be found here. There are pictures of the damaged interior on both websites, so you can see the damaged state this place is in.

If you are still reading this, thank you for sticking to it. I really suggest you support this trust as it is doing something beneficial for the Holmes community and Sir Arthur Conan Doyle's history.

Long time no speak.

I bet you've all enjoyed not seeing my, let's be honest, boring blog updates on the home page.

From now on I think I will try to post once a week on a weekend (either Friday night, Saturday or Sunday) starting from tomorrow, purely because I will probably be able to fit all of the events in one blog entry.

So yes, if something vaguely interesting happens in the next 24 hours, see you tomorrow. If not, see you next week.

*I probably won't stick to this plan, so prepare for failure.

Not a normal week.

On Thursday night, my friend Emily and myself went to Leeds O2 Academy to see Black Veil Brides. They were absolutely amazing. Their show was outstanding (and the 'mosh pits' were very violent- I'm now sporting a bruised cheek bone, and I wasn't even directly in one.) and I managed to catch the drummer's drumstick between my knees at the end (but unfortunately dropped it and lost it in the crowds.) We waited for around an hour outside in the cold to meet them. We were at the front of the barrier next to the bus so they kind of had to walk that way. We met 4 of the 5 members (one was asleep on the bus) and they signed our ticket, hugged us and we got a photo with their drummer after a conversation with him. This band has helped me through a lot, and I'm not just saying that.  I have suffered depression in the past, but it seems that ever since I started listening to more music, like this band, and distracted myself with things like Sherlock, my guitar and art, I've stopped. It probably sounds a little pathetic to you, but it is quite hard to explain what those things mean to me and what they've done. They are the most genuine guys I've ever met and they are lovely. They get degraded by other musicians because of their looks (think Kiss crossed with Motley Crue and you've pretty much got it) and some people go to their concerts to shout abuse at them. Thankfully, no one did on Thursday. No one should ever do that to musicians when they're on stage. This applies to every band out there, not just Black Veil Brides. It takes bucket loads of courage and skill to get up on stage and perform in front of hundreds, maybe even thousands, of fans.

So, that was Thursday. Waiting in the queues also presented me with the perfect opportunity to do some deductions. Stood around 3 people in front of me was a 35-40 year old man, obviously with his young-ish daughter who was practically dancing on the spot from excitement. He seemed tired, bored. His watch and phone were on/ in is left hand, suggesting that he is left-handed. Of course, that isn't always the case as there is exceptions. I didn't get much else as we started moving, but I was just happy that I had actually done a deduction this week.

Our Easter break began on Friday, which is excellent. (Pun not intended.)

Sunday, 25 March 2012

I managed to start and complete my Moriarty/Moran fanfiction this weekend, which is an accomplishment as it proves I have actually done something instead of sitting around watching Sherlock and reading my forensic guide (Best Christmas present ever. Seriously) all day. Well, I did do those things too.
I just have to survive this week and then it is our Easter break. Hurrah! That, however, is easier said than done. My English Lit tutor loves to make me read out loud, mainly because she knows that I get easily embarrassed and I'm the quietest one in the group. Apparently, when I missed a class to go to the dentist she said "Phoebe, you can have the role of Scout. Oh, she's not here?" (We're reading To Kill A Mockingbird, despite the fact that I had already read the book years before in another class.) I have learnt to avoid eye contact with her and pray she doesn't notice me.
As deductions go, I'm not doing very well.
For some utterly silly reason, I feeling like John Watson. I will expand- I am sat here blogging in my John-style jumper. I also have a little limp that doesn't seem to want to go away and a curly haired best friend.
Unfortunately, my room is still without a skull. I must go and find one.

Friday, 23 March 2012

I will be motivated, I will be motivated..

The plan for this weekend: do something! I have been like a ghost since last Sunday; hardly talking to people or venturing far. I have even started falling asleep halfway through TV shows and it has been almost a week since Italy, so I don't think jet lag is still a problem.
I'm lucky enough to only have stats coursework and RE revision to do this weekend. I received my exam timetable for this year, and so far there's only a 90 minute RE one and a 2 hour statistics one. I will bet my very limited savings that it won't stay that way for very long.
I am determined to write some more fanfiction tonight as I haven't uploaded any in ages. My Moriarty/Molly one didn't turn out the way I expected it to, so it is safe to say that idea has now been abandoned. I am actually swaying towards the Moriarty/Sebastian ship, as Moran has suddenly started to seem interesting to me. I really hope they introduce him in season three, even if it is without Jim *sob*. Emotionally attached to a fictional character? Me? Well, I suppose I am...

Monday, 19 March 2012

The true friends.

Only true (and slightly crazy) friends would happily go as a Moriarty and John to your Sherlock, understand what you meant when you texted them "Jumbo jet. Dear me, Mr Holmes. Dear me." from the airport, share your love for crime and forensic science, find serial killers fascinating like you do, quote Sherlock and Doctor Who in normal conversations, and basically be there for you whenever you need their help. This is all Beth and Saffron. I feel like I'm going to burst out into Sherlock by saying "I was so alone, and I owe you so much", but the quote pretty much covers everything. This post was originally not going to turn into some cliché, soppy, "I luv u bezzies4eva" type post, but it kind of is now. Oops.

Sunday, 18 March 2012

I am quite literally unable to move as a result of the obscenely large amount of food I have consumed over the past five days. Every meal in Italy was at least three courses, if not more, and then add on the numerous snacks on the flights there and back and you'll get the picture..
This trip turned out to be more "Sherlocky" than I had originally imagined. At the travel station there were numerous soldiers in their army uniforms, which sparked off the trend of Saffron and myself shouting "Baskerville!" at each other whenever we saw one. We also left a Believe In Sherlock message in the sand on the beach and left a few notes in our already messy bedroom (skittle fights between five mentally immature girls at two in the morning often create more mess). We had to be up and ready for half three this morning, so we didn't actually go to sleep last night, which is why I am so shattered now. Our German next door (or next room to be more precise) neighbours kept phoning us, so I answered like Moriarty and they surprisingly stopped after that. "I will find you and I will sssssssssskiin you" usually does the trick. Watching The Great Game and A Study In Pink did not make the taxi journey a pleasant one. I blame my over-active imagination. And caffeine.

A very inventive title,as you can see...

I'm going to Italy tomorrow on a school excursion! I am actually pretty excited as Italy is one of the places where I've always wanted to go. I have my "A Study In Scarlet" and "A Scandal In Bohemia and Other Stories" books, Cabin Pressure and far too many sweets to keep me entertained on the journeys.
Regarding music for my mind palace, I downloaded "The Game is On", "Mind Palace and Solution", "Grimm Fairy Tales", "Prepared to do Anything", "Deductions and Deceptions" and "Blood On the Pavement" and they suit my different moods rather well.

So I suppose this is goodbye until Sunday (at the earliest)! I will be spreading the "Believe In Sherlock" movement in the Fasano region of Italy during the next 4 days, so sorry in advance any Italian readers...

Bye!

Operation Mind Palace- part two

I have finally finished a mental sketch of my mind palace, so now it's time for deciding the music. I was thinking of a piece of music with very little vocals in it, or none at all if possible. I have a few picked out to decide from, including:

  • The Exogenesis symphony pieces from Muse's Resistance album (not quite sure which of the three yet)
  • "Blood on the Pavement." "Prepared to do Anything" or "Mind Palace and Solution" from the Sherlock Season 2 soundtrack.
I'll need to get an iTunes voucher today in order to get the Sherlock tracks, and possibly some episodes of Cabin Pressure for the Italy trip on Wednesday. I was forced into dress shopping against my will yesterday by some of my friends, which turned out to be unsuccessful. I'm going again today, so my luck may improve. I dislike wearing dresses, but there's a party on the Friday night and apparently "I'll be the only one wearing jeans and a top." Oh well...

I also tapped into my nerdy side yesterday when I downloaded the iTunes U app for my iPod. It's this pretty cool application where you can download free courses from universities on all subjects. I downloaded a course from the Open University on DNA and Sickle Cell Disease to keep me entertained on the flight on Wednesday. It took me by surprise when I realised who the narrator of the introduction was- Andrew Scott! Now, it may just be my fragile over-imaginative brain mistaking accents, but his is pretty recognisable and it really sounds like him. I don't know what sounds sadder- the fact that I can immediately recognise his accent, or the fact that I am now downloading podcasts on DNA.

Musings of a Sherlockian

So today was the day in which we had to dress up. I used to absolutely hate going to fancy dress parties when I was around 6-7, but going as Sherlock didn't seem so bad. If I had prepared earlier, I could have bought some hair dye and at least curled my fringe, but I woke up late and had to run to the bus stop (yes, in a deerstalker). I got plenty of strange looks and double-takes, as you may have guessed. My friends Beth and Beth (I know a lot of Beths...) came as Moriarty and Watson, so I wasn't the only fool. We also got a green screen done in the IT department, but it hasn't been processed and uploaded to the website yet.
I also had an idea for a Molly/Moriarty fic at the weekend after listening to a certain song over and over again. Hopefully, it should be finished soon.

Saturday, 3 March 2012

When boredom strikes, grab a pencil.

As a result of watching far too much Saturday night TV and being desperate for something to do, I decided to take the first step towards creating a set of Sherlock stuffed dolls (like my UglyDoll Andy, but not ones that look like monsters) that look like the characters. It's going to take a lot of time, patience and material. I already have something for Mycroft's tie and Lestrade's shirt (slight hints to Mystrade. Yes, I ship it..) and the perfect material for John's jumper. I am actually excited about doing this 'project'! I tend to come up with an idea, and if I'm focused, I'll achieve it. The drawings are just basic designs and guidelines for the dolls. If all goes well, I should have a line of mini Sherlock characters sat on my bed in a few months.
Apart from being told that our idea wouldn't be successful, yesterday was actually pretty good! Unfortunately we didn't find any sponsors, but one company said they would support our idea if we won and decided to go through with it. We left plenty of "Believe In Sherlock" messages on napkins and scraps of paper.
Deductions are much more interesting when you're at a large event. One lady presumably had a tabby cat, judging by the fine ginger hairs on her cardigan which looked too smooth to be dog hairs.
I'm sorry these posts are a little on the short side and hardly interesting, but this week has been pretty quiet.

Thursday, 1 March 2012

So I'm going to this buisness conference style thing tomorrow and I really do not know what to expect. We were put into groups a while ago and had to come up with a buisness idea that would solve a current planetary issue (hence the name, Solutions For The Planet), so tomorrow is basically an event where we meet other people in the buisness already and look for potential sponsors. I really dislike speaking in public, so I may prove to be totally useless. My plans are all on a memory stick, which is a bad thing for Saffron and myself....

Sherlockians + memory stick = "ah, the missile plans... boring! I could've gotten them anywhere!" (complete with tossing the stick somewhere.)

So yes, it should be fun. At least there will be plenty of people for me to test my deduction skills on...

Generation of the brain dead.

Lately I have been questioning the sanity of everyone around me, myself included sometimes. When you sit at the back of a classroom and don't make a sound, you hear every conversation happening in the room at that moment in time. In art yesterday there was a bunch of girls who constantly talked about who'd lost their virginity and what make up they were wearing. One even thought OCD meant Obsessive Cleaning Disorder. The same problem occurred today in Chemistry as everyone around me was talking and I couldn't hear a thing the teacher was saying. He was giving instructions and rules regarding our ISAs and demonstrating how to do the experiment safely, and I didn't catch a word of it. I'm silently screaming inside. I'm sorry for venting my anger on here, but all of the girls I mentioned have me on facebook, and 140 characters on twitter is not enough. At times like these I'm glad I don't have bright orange skin, skirts that look like belts, fake friends and the problem of deciding which party to go to. I'd rather spend my weekends and nights sat alone reading. Social interaction is hard when all your friends are in a different form.

Sunday, 26 February 2012

I created my Sherlock outfit today! To encourage the younger generation to read books, we have to dress up as a fictional character and, well, no prizes for guessing who I'm going as. My outfit looks more like the modern day Sherlock, so I'm cheating a little but shh! I was originally going to be John, but my Sherlock had other arrangements and plans.
I get to talk to my dear friend Mr Skull (suggested by my lovely new follower) tomorrow in art while I draw him for around the 50th time this year. The mind palace is going great, and deductions will resume tomorrow.

War Horse

The first challenge of the day was trying to find a cinema that was still showing War Horse. I did find one, but it was a train ride away. The film was excellent, which made up for the long journey there and back. I have to admit; I cried. A lot. When I was 6 I started horse riding and continued the sport for 5 years until I moved up to high school, so I guess that's why I cried so much. I always seem to have an emotional connection with horses in films, and basically every other fictional character out there. When I left the cinema, a man was stood with his wife in the corner and was trying to convince her that one of the generals was the modern day Sherlock Holmes.
I had my " I am SHER locked" t shirt and Harry Potter scarf on, so I received a lot of strange looks in the foyer.

Deductions

I finally did my first deduction today! I finally got around to trying a deduction on the bus this morning as the bus driver got lost and took the longer route, and I was bored.
A woman around 19/20 got on the bus and stood opposite me against one of the poles. She had long pink nails, a pink iPhone case, pink lipstick and a pink bag. I made the obvious assumption that she likes the colour pink. I also 'deduced' that she had a small white dog, possibly a terrier or chihuahua of some sort, as her black coat was covered in small white hair on the lap/chest area, suggesting the dog is small enough to be carried around.  She was presumably staying over somewhere, as she also had a large black checked bag as well as the pink one. Her Westwood bag and earrings and Ugg boots suggested she has a love for designer items and enjoys being 'fashionable'.
So yeah- all that was discovered on the bus without making eye contact with her or being obvious. I was pretty pleased with myself for being observant for once in my life. Whether the ideas are true or not is a different story, but I have statistics course work that needs completing, and the buisness conference and trip to Italy won't help as they mean I'll be 5 hours behind. Great. Bye for now...

My Sherlock t shirt has arrived! This has actually brightened my day a whole lot. I don't know really, I guess it's the weather that's bringing me down because I haven't been well and slightly depressed. I wouldn't say I have Seasonal Affective Disorder but my moods definitely reflect the season and weather.
Anyway, seeing the parcel has improved what has been a bad day. Tonight's plans consist of making myself a hot chocolate and watching Sherlock. Thankfully, my course work pile has practically disappeared now.

Day one of "Operation Mind Palace"

Honestly, this isn't actually day one. The idea formed 2 weeks ago. However, today will be the first day that I actually put the effort into creating my mind palace.
It is based on the interior of 221B, and has 3 areas; the kitchen, living room and the front door/stair case. I'm not entirely sure on the idea of having music playing because I can't really find a suitable song that won't distract me. Any suggestions?

I guess I really have taken one giant leap towards being classed as a high-functioning sociopath...

Anyway, goodnight my 2 lovely followers! Not that I'll be able to sleep with the amount of coffee in my system but oh well...

I thought the gif had a relative aspect to my current situation, and unfortunately I have to be out of the house at 7 tomorrow. So much for holiday lie-ins.

Sea Wall

Sat drinking lukewarm coffee and staring at the amazingly talented Andrew Scott on a computer screen may not be everyone's cup of tea, but it certainly is mine. Seriously, this man is quite literally amazing. Every performance he gives is breath-taking and extremely moving. His talent is shown in Sea Wall (2012) where he plays Alex. It really connects with you deep inside, and a few hours later after watching the film, everything sinks in and you get all the emotions he intended to deliver. Brilliant acting, brilliant script, brilliant film. I only rented it before, so it looks like I'm going to have to download it. The personal message from Andrew on tumblr goes to show how appreciative he is of his fans and how sweet he is. He is an inspiration.
Today in a brief sentence: The day I screamed at the laptop, almost cried, spent all day listening to Muse and reading in the dark, and actually ventured outside.
Over the week I have been creating a Sherlock video with clips of John and Sherlock in it, showing flashbacks of their friendship before the events in Reichenbach Fall. All was going well until someone (me.) decided to move the gifs to a folder and delete the second copy. My ancient version of Windows Movie Maker got confused and deleted all my clips on the video. I had an emotional break down because I was tired and stressed and in a rush. But thankfully, after going out for lunch and spending time in the fresh air, I fixed the problem and can continue. I think I have just over 2 more minutes left of the backing song (The Fray's How To Save A Life) so hopefully it will be done by the end of the week.
Today I became interested in the idea of cosplaying the Sherlock characters. I know; I must seem mentally unstable in these posts. So far, I have no clothes that resemble any character what so ever.

My friend let me use her badge making machine today...

They have arrived!

My Sherlock Holmes books came this morning, much to my delight, which freaked out my friend. I don't think she's ever seen me in such a good mood at 9 in the morning. I finally have something to read that I will find interesting. I need to finish "The Silent Sleep of the Dying" and "Chemistry of Death" first though, but they aren't that intriguing.

Unfortunately, there has been no more snow. Looks like the sledge we bought is going to be unused this year.

My day so far has consisted of me sitting in my bedroom listening to Muse B-sides and reading. My life must seem so interesting to other people..

Andy

As part of our DT coursework we had to make an "UglyDoll". This is Andy.. I don't know the exact reason behind this post, but I didn't know what else to talk about, and he was sat staring at me on my bed next to the laptop.

I really dislike the dentist. I had to have 2 x rays and I'm not allowed to eat for an hour. Next time, I'll try not to arrange the appointment around noon next time...

My valentines day will consist of watching Sherlock, CSI and The Office. And yes, Eric Szmanda, Andrew Scott, Martin Freeman and Benedict Cumberbatch are my valentines for the day ;D

It looks like my pile of course work is gradually building up, with a goal of erasing all plans of mine for the holidays. I've recently started writing fanfiction and I must admit- it's pretty addicting. The library's closed today, which means I'll have to survive one more day with nothing to read. My "Believe In Sherlock" poster is almost done, and that will be going up on the notice board in the reception. Random updates, but my mind's blank at this moment in time.

There was a disappointing lack of Dead Bodies DVDs in town today. I asked someone who worked in HMV if they had it in stock, and after 3 attempts of trying to understand what I meant by "Do you have Dead Bodies in stock?", he checked, which was very kind of him. I must admit, it has a very strange title..
I cannot cook to save my life, so it looks like a take away pizza is on the cards for tonight. And I will watch all 3 Sherlock episodes from season one tonight. Good indicator of how non-existent my social life is.

I feel sorry for the unlucky person who will have to share a dorm/flat with me in the future.

Friday!

I'm considering breaking out into the Rebecca Black song, despite the fact that I have never listened to that disgrace to music all the way through before. I also cannot sing to save my life.
I think I'll go into town tomorrow as I need to go shopping. Should be interesting based on the fact that I barely have any money as I bought a Sherlock t shirt and book set (which still haven't come yet). I need to find Dead Bodies. No, not actual dead bodies- the film that has the insanely amazing Andrew Scott in it. It's in stock in CEX for 50p. Only problem: its in Camden. I highly doubt I'll be able to go on a 2 hour train journey to get a DVD.

Thursday, 9 February 2012

Today I realised how many Sherlock and Moriarty quotes I actually say. They seem to fit in with conversations nicely and provide that extra Sherlock-related twist to the day. The problem is only one of my friends understands what I'm saying and can join in. We basically cause confusion and create the image that we're crazy, and if you asked my neighbour, she'd probably say I am.

Living in a freezer.

Forget global warming, it is -2 degrees right now. Just as the tiny amount of snow we've had has started to  melt, another 20cm is due tomorrow, Friday, and at the weekend. I love snow really, its just it can be a pain when there's only a quick flurry and nothing settles on the ground. When that's the case, I have no chance of escaping my English teacher.
The heating is horrendous in this house. I usually wake up naturally around 4am and it is freezing, so then I'm awake and shivering for the next 2 hours until my alarm goes off at 6. Because my iPod (And I trust that data. Well, occasionally it's true...) says it will be -4 to -5 degrees tonight, I think it's time to find my hot water bottle.

Tuesday, 7 February 2012

Hello. If you are still reading my blog, I love you. Really- its an achievement for me to just have one follower with my occasionally odd behaviour.
Today was an improvement compared to yesterday. I finished Girl 4 by Will Carver- it was brilliant. I would recommend it 100% if you like crime and detective novels. Now I need to find something else to read, which is going to be hard due to the fact that I've read almost all the books on the shelf. I really hope my Sherlock Holmes book collection arrives soon.
I've been waiting all day for the pathology programme that starts tonight. I can't remember the name of it or which channel it's on, but it looked interesting. My Mum's friend knows about my interests in things like that and said she could try to get me work experience in the morgue at the hospital she works at. I highly doubt that would be possible, but I'd love to do something like that. Yep, that's what my twisted brain's like.

Monday, 6 February 2012

So long and goodnight.

So, I guess I will leave the internet for tonight and spend the rest of the evening finishing this biology course work and watching Sherlock or CSI. I haven't decided which one yet. Good night x

(And yes I do have Helena stuck in my head..)

Monday blues

Yep, another week of education has begun. The only good thing about today was my art class, and it usually is the same every Monday. 2 of my friends came back from Iceland today. I should be happy that they're back and I'm able to talk to them, but one of them is blanking most of us out completely. I don't want to annoy her (as I can be annoying sometimes, especially when it comes to lunch time discussions) but I want to talk to her. I feel responsible, and I don't even know why. You know that feeling when you feel slightly guilty, and yet you have done nothing wrong? Yeah, that's what today's been like.
So, that is the end of my *ahem*.. cheerful post (hurrah!).

Lack of Sherlock syndrome?

Every Sunday I feel a little lost inside, mainly because I know the weekend is over, but also due to the fact that I have been without a new episode of Sherlock for over 4 weeks now. I am not too fussed if I get called 'pathetic' for saying this- really, it is my own opinion on the matter. Anyway, most Sundays are now spent sat in my room watching season 1 (I haven't ordered the second series yet, unfortunately) and my recording of The Reichenbach Fall on Sky+. Actually, that is what I'm doing right now. So, I was just wondering; is there anyone else out there that is like this?

(Or is it just my odd ways?)

Hello world! This is my first post just to say I'm new here and just getting to grips with the layout and location of everything. So yeah, thank you for stopping by, and more post will arrive soon!
